Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Eurasian Economic Forum to be held in Bishkek on May 26-27

BISHKEK. April 6 (Interfax) - The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum, as part of which a visit by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Kyrgyzstan will take place, will be held in Bishkek on May 26-27, the Kyrgyz presidential press service said on Wednesday.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev "reached an agreement to hold a visit by the Kazakh president to Kyrgyzstan at the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum scheduled to be held in Bishkek on May 26-27," the press service said.

Japarov asked for a positive decision with regard to opening the Kazakh ground border to citizens of Kyrgyzstan, it said. Tokayev said he would order that the issue be considered.

The presidents discussed the prospects of development of Kyrgyz-Kazakh strategic partnership with an emphasis on the upcoming anniversary date, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
