Over 3,800 evacuated through humanitarian corridors on Tue - Ukraine's Deputy PM Vereshchuk

KYIV. April 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) - More than 3,800 people were evacuated through humanitarian corridors in Tuesday, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said.

"We have evacuated 3,846 people. A total of 2,216 people have come to Zaporizhzhya from Mariupol and Berdyansk by personal vehicles through humanitarian corridors. Out of that number, 1,496 people came from Mariupol and 720 from Polohi, Vasylivka, Berdyansk and Melitopol," Vereshchuk said on Telegram on Tuesday evening.

"Residents of Mariupol and Berdyansk were evacuated by bus. More than 40 private vehicles followed the bus convoy. Soon enough, 400 people will be safe in Zaporizhzhya," she said.

Meanwhile, 17 vans that departed for Berdyansk in the morning are back to Zaporizhzhya, Vereshchuk said. The vans have been used to evacuate 150 people from Lysychansk, Sievierodonetsk, Rubizhne and Kremenna.

Elsewhere, 1,080 people have been evacuated from the Luhansk region.

Eleven humanitarian corridors for evacuation of civilians from the cities of the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Luhansk regions have been approved for Wednesday, April 6, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said.

People can go from Mariupol, Donetsk region, and Enerhodar, Hulyaipole, and Melitopol, Zaporizhzhya region, to Zaporizhzhya on their own transport, and buses carrying humanitarian aid will leave Zaporizhzhya for Hulyaipole and Melitopol on Wednesday, she said on Telegram. People can go from Berdyansk and Tokmak, Zaporizhzhya region, to Zaporizhzhya on Wednesday on their own transport and by bus.

Evacuation to Bakhmut, Donetsk region, will be organized from Severodonetsk, and also Lysychansk, Popasna, Hirske, and Rubizhne, Severodonetsk district of the Luhansk region, on Wednesday. People who wish to leave will meet at 28 Prospekt Khimikov in Severodonetsk, at RTI, 40 Let Pobedy, 324 Sosyury Street in Lysychansk, at 42 Pervomaiska Street in Popasna, and at 13 Gagarin Street in Hirske.
