Putin notes expansion of constructive political dialogue with Baku

MOSCOW. Apr 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on the 30th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations, a statement, published on the Kremlin website on Monday, said.

"Over the past decades, a lot has been done for the development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, which are based on the good traditions of friendship and mutual respect. The constructive political dialogue and the fruitful cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, humanitarian and other areas have been expanding," Putin said.

"We rely on the trilateral agreements concluded last year and the year before last in our joint work on strengthening the stability and security in the South Caucasus," he said.

"This year has seen an important achievement, i.e. the signing of a declaration on allied cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan. I have no doubt that a new, qualitatively higher level of bilateral relations meets fundamental interests of our peoples," Putin said.

He wished robust health and success to Aliyev and prosperity and wellbeing to all citizens of Azerbaijan.
