World Association of Nuclear Operators transfers all Ukrainian NPPs to Paris Center - Energoatom

KYIV. March 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) has transferred the Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company, an operator of all Ukrainian nuclear power plants, from the Moscow Center to the Paris Center.

"Today, on March 31, 2022, the WANO Board of Governors at its meeting supported Energoatom's application and decided to transfer the company along with all its plants and nuclear power units to the WANO's Paris Center," the Ukrainian nuclear power plants' operator said on Telegram on Thursday.

The company noted that the Ukrainian nuclear power plants have been part of the WANO's Moscow Center since the organization was established in 1989.

Now, the Zaporizhzhya NPP (six VVER-1000 units), the Rivne NPP (two VVER-440 and two VVER-1000 units), the Yuzhno-Ukrainskaya NPP (three VVER-1000 units) and the Khmelnytskyi NPP (two VVER-1000 units) are transferred to the Paris Center, Energoatom said.

WANO unites all operators of nuclear power plants of the world and promotes the sharing of experience in operating nuclear power plants so that the members of the association could work together to achieve the highest level of safety and reliability in the operation of their nuclear power plants, it said.
