Ukraine to deny recognition of Green Card insurance certificates issued in Russia, Belarus
MINSK. March 29 (Interfax) - Any Green Card insurance certificates issued by Russian or Belarusian insurance companies will be invalid in Ukraine starting on April 5, 2022, the Association of International Road Carriers (BAMAP) said.
"Starting from 12 a.m. on April 5, 2022, any Green Card insurance certificates issued by Russian or Belarusian insurance companies will be deemed null and void in the Ukrainian territory and vehicles will be deemed non-insured if they lack a relevant Ukrainian mandatory third party liability insurance policy," BAMAP said in a statement on its website.
The organization explained the ban on Green Cards with a note issued by the Ukrainian embassy to Belarus, which informed Belarus that the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine had decided to sever agreements with the national bureaus of Russia and Belarus regarding the mutual recognition of Green Card insurance certificates.
