Ukrainian lawmakers from Servant of the People faction draw up bill banning 'pro-Russian parties'

KYIV. March 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A group of Ukrainian parliamentarians from the Servant of the People faction has registered legislation on a procedure and consequences of a ban on "pro-Russian parties" in Ukraine, Servant of the People head Olena Shulyak said.

"The Verkhovna Rada has received a bill drafted together with parliamentary colleagues and the Justice Ministry. It concerns a procedure and consequences of a ban on pro-Russian parties," Shulyak wrote on Telegram.

The bill proposes setting a one-month time limit for hearing administrative cases on banning a party in a first-instance court after the opening of the proceedings.

An appeal court would have to hear such a case within one month after the opening of appeal proceedings.

If a court rules to ban a party, it would also be supposed to order that its property, funds, other assets, and structural entities shall be transferred to the state's ownership, the bill says.
