U.S. actor Sean Penn's charity to help displaced Ukrainians in Lviv region - administration

KYIV. March 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) - U.S. actor and film director Sean Penn, the founder of the Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) charity, said at a meeting with head of the Lviv region's military administration Maksym Kozytsky that CORE wants to develop partnership relations in Ukraine.

"We know how important it is to support the population today. That's why we will do all we can to help. We want to receive the list of items that displaced persons need most of all in order to provide these people with assistance as soon as possible," according to Penn's remarks, which were quoted in Ukrainian on the website of the Lviv region's military administration and were translated by Interfax.

The Lviv region is the region where the majority of internally displaced persons are arriving and from where most of them are crossing into Poland, the regional military administration said. This is the reason why Penn became interested in working with displaced persons in this region and providing them with necessary assistance.

According to the regional military administration, the Lviv region has taken more than 250,000 internally displaced persons since February 24, including 585 in the past 24 hours.
