Pope pledges to assist humanitarian corridors in Ukraine - Deputy PM

KYIV. March 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Pope Francis has promised Ukraine to assist with the opening of humanitarian routes, the country's Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk, said.

"The Papal nunciature contacted us with an offer of help in opening humanitarian corridors. Apparently, this has been agreed with the Russian side. If this works, we will be very grateful to the Pope for his personal involvement," Vereshchuk was quoted as saying by her ministry's press service.
