Hungary won't allow supplying of weapons to Ukraine through its territory, won't stop using Russian oil, gas - Hungarian FM
KYIV. March 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Hungary does not want to risk the lives and safety of the people of Hungary and will not allow the supplying of weapons to Ukraine through its territory and will not stop using Russian oil and gas, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.
"We will not allow the weapons supplies [for Ukraine] into our territory," Szijjarto said on social networks on Friday.
"At the summit of the European Union's prime ministers yesterday, Volodymyr Zelensky repeated two well-known demands made by Ukrainians: to allow the supply of weapons through our country and to simultaneously stop buying natural gas and oil from Russia," he said. "We understand that the president of Ukraine and the people of Ukraine are more important than anything. However, the security of Hungary and the people of Hungary have paramount importance to us," Szijjarto said.
"Termination of the supply of natural gas and oil from Russia would make it impossible to supply energy to Hungary and would at the same time sharply increase costs. Therefore, we still don't support the application of sanctions on the supply of energy resources," he said.
