Private investors account for over half of equities trading turnover on Moscow Exchange in first day

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - More than half of trading turnover on the Moscow Exchange on the first day was generated by private investors, the exchange said in a statement.

"Deals with equities were made by 121 professional participants and 567,000 private investors. The share of individuals in the total volume of trades was 58.2%," the statement said.

The total volume of trades in shares amounted to 108.6 billion rubles, including 3.6 billion rubles during the opening auction and 2.1 billion rubles during the closing auction.

The MOEX index was up 4.4% at the end of the trading day to 2,578.5 points compared with close of trading on February 25, 2022.

Trading on the stock market resumed on Thursday, March 24 after its suspension on February 25.

There were 33 shares of the MOEX index traded in main mode from 9:50 a.m. to 1:50 p.m., and in RPS/RPS with CC mode from 9:50 a.m. to 2 p.m.
