Over 300 Ukrainian children with cancer sent for treatment to Europe, U.S., Canada - Zelenska

KYIV. March 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) - More than 300 Ukrainian children have been sent for cancer treatment to the clinics in Europe, the United States, and Canada, Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska said in an interview with the French publication Le Parisien.

"Saving Ukrainian children with cancer is an unprecedented campaign that has never taken place in the international medical practice. Thanks to joint efforts of Ukrainian and foreign doctors, non-governmental and charitable organizations, international partners, and volunteers we have managed to organize 'flights of life' [...]. Six groups of patients have already been delivered and several more flights are scheduled. More than 300 children have been able to continue treatment in the clinics of Europe, the U.S., and Canada," Zelenska was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian presidential press service on Wednesday.

The rescue of children with cancer is being organized in coordination with the first ladies of Poland and France, the Ukrainian first lady said. She also thanked the international partners and citizens of European countries for their support and assistance to Ukrainians.

The provision of Ukrainian hospitals with incubators for newborns has begun, the Ukrainian first lady said. The first two have already been delivered to the Mykolaiv Regional Children's Hospital. Kharkiv is next in line, she said.
