Zelensky calls for Vatican's mediation for settlement in Ukraine

KYIV. March 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has discussed the humanitarian situation in his country with Pope Francis and said that Kyiv would welcome the Holy See's mediating role in reaching a settlement.

"Talked to Pope Francis. Told His Holiness about the difficult humanitarian situation," Zelensky wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

"The mediating role of the Holy See in ending human suffering would be appreciated," Zelensky said.
