Over 39,000 people leave Ukraine's Mariupol by their own vehicles over past week - city council
KYIV. March 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) - More than 39,000 residents of Mariupol in the Donetsk region left the city by their own vehicles over the past week, the Mariupol City Council's Telegram channel said on Sunday.
Over 8,000 cars left Mariupol in the direction of Berdiansk, from where they later arrived in Zaporizhzhya, the city council said. "For those who for various reasons could not continue driving on their own, evacuation was organized by buses from Berdiansk to Zaporizhzhya," the city council said.
The Mariupol City Council thanked everyone who helped organize the evacuation of Mariupol residents.
