As many as 700 Luhansk region residents evacuated, over 2,000 from Ukraine's Mariupol on Sat

KYIV. March 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) - About 700 residents of the Luhansk region were evacuated via a humanitarian corridor on Saturday.

"People were leaving Popasna intermittently," the State Emergencies Service said on Telegram.

As many as 160 people were evacuated from Severodonetsk, 160 from Lysychansk, 30 from Rubizhne, and 302 from Popasna. People also evacuated by their own vehicles.

"Five vans carrying humanitarian aid have entered the region. The aid will be handed out in the communities as early as tomorrow," the statement said.

Meanwhile, another 363 vehicles carrying 2,128 Mariupol residents, including 648 children, arrived in Zaporizhzhya on Saturday, secretary of the Zaporizhzhya city council Anatoliy Kurtev said.

"All these people received shelter. Now they have a roof over their heads, food, medicine, and primary necessities. Displaced people are also provided with medical and psychological assistance," he said on Telegram.

In just four days, more than 15,714 displaced people, including 3,397 children, from various settlements have been accommodated in Zaporizhzhya, the statement said.
