Uzbek authorities repatriate more than 5,800 Uzbek citizens from Ukraine

TASHKENT. March 15 (Interfax) - Almost 5,900 Uzbek citizens have been evacuated from Ukraine to Uzbekistan through Poland on special Uzbekistan Airways flights, Uzbek Foreign Ministry spokesman Yusup Kabulzhanov said on Tuesday.

"Twenty-six flights took place from February 28, 2022 to March 15, 2022. A total of 5,884 fellow citizens have been repatriated thanks to active efforts of the diplomatic missions," Kabulzhanov said on his Telegram channel.

According to his information, the Uzbek embassy in Ukraine, which has temporarily moved from Kyiv to Lviv, is receiving assistance with the transportation of Uzbek citizens who are in remote regions of the country to evacuation points.
