Russian ministry proposes to eliminate import duties on electronics

MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - Russia's Digital Development Ministry has proposed to eliminate import duties for six months on computer equipment and electronic components, the ministry told Interfax.

The ministry has "proposed to reduce to zero for six months the import duty on products that have been included in sanctions lists and that are not produced in Russia at all or in the required amount," the ministry said.

"This will make it possible to support Russian equipment manufacturers until new supply chains and production inside Russia are established," the ministry said.

Russian electronics developers and manufacturers association ARPE earlier sent the government proposals for supporting their sector amid sanctions. In addition to financial measures, the association proposed to limit protections for intellectual property so that "grey" supplies of electronics could be established.
