ASUS deliveries to Russian market grind to a near halt - company

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Taiwanese computer hardware and electronics firm ASUS has practically halted shipments to Russia due to logistics and banking services disruptions.

"ASUS always follows international recommendations, and this situation has caused serious problems throughout the supply chain, logistics and banking services, and has also resulted in the fact that deliveries to the Russian market at present have practically stopped dead," the company's press office told Interfax.

The press office did not respond when asked whether the company had decided to restrict its business in Russia and suspend deliveries. It did say that customer services were proceeding as usual.

The company also said it was rendering "all possible support to ASUS employees and their families in the epicenter of the crisis and will closely monitor how the situation unfolds." It also plans to allocate 30 million Taiwan dollars or $1 million U.S. dollars to the Disaster Relief Foundation.

Taiwan's economy minister, Wang Mei-hua, said earlier that ASUS was putting a plan in place for the "evacuation" of its staff and business in Russia.
