Nazarbayev's nephew detained in Kazakhstan

NUR-SULTAN. March 13 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Anti-Corruption Service has detained Kairat Satybaldyuly, a nephew of first Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, on suspicion of embezzlement in the Kazakhtelecom national company, the anti-corruption agency's press service said on Sunday.

"The Anti-Corruption Service is investigating a criminal case on the abuse of office and largescale embezzlement in Kazakhtelecom JSC. Kairat Satybaldyuly was detained on suspicion of committing these crimes and placed in a pretrial detention facility," the statement said.

"Satybaldyuly is being checked for his possible involvement in other crimes undermining the security of the state," it said.

"The investigation is continuing. In accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, any other information shall not be divulged in the interest of the investigation," it said.
