Zelensky says talks with Russia continuing, invites West, along with Russia, to give security guarantees to Ukraine

KYIV. March 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations on ending the conflict are continuing: "a conversation has begun", Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

"Our diplomats are working and are discussing details of the agenda that could exist between us and the Russian Federation," Zelensky said during a meeting with foreign journalists in Kyiv on Saturday.

"I am glad, in principle, that there is at least a signal from the Russian Federation," he said.

The fact that Russia has abandoned a tactic of ultimatums is a "fundamentally different approach," he said.

Zelensky also spoke in favor of Western leaders joining the Ukraine-Russia talks. Not only Russia, but also the leaders of other countries should give security guarantees to Ukraine, he said. Zelensky said that he has already passed issues on the agenda of the Ukraine-Russia talks on ending the conflict to some presidents of Western countries.

"We shall see," Zelensky said.
