Russian Duma quits Instagram, Facebook and Twitter

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - The Duma has shut down its accounts on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter at the behest of Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the lower house of Russian parliament announced on Telegram on Friday.

The move comes after "Meta (Facebook, Instagram) permitted calls for violence in regard to Russians [and] Twitter repeatedly breached Russian laws," the post said.

Telegram remains as the only forum for communication, it said. "We always read and react to our subscribers' comments."

The Duma is also present on Vk and Odnoklasniki, it said.
