Instagram users in Russia have the weekend to move content, notify subscribers before website blocking - Roskomnadzor

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russian users of Instagram have an extra two days, this Saturday and Sunday, to transfer their pictures and videos and notify subscribers of them leaving the social networking site which will be definitively blocked in Russia from midnight March 14, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) stated on Friday.

"Because active Instagram users need time to transfer their photo- and video materials to other social networking sites and notify their contacts and subscribers, Roskomnadzor has decided to complete the process of imposing restrictions on the access to Instagram at 00 hours March 14 to allow users an additional 48-hour transfer period," the statement said.
