Yerevan might appeal to OSCE Minsk Group on beginning peace talks with Baku - Armenian Foreign Ministry

YEREVAN. March 11 (Interfax) - Armenia will apply to the co-chairs of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group for settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to ask them to mediate in peace talks with Azerbaijan, Armenian Foreign Ministry press secretary Vahan Hunanyan said.

"The signing of a treaty [on peace with Azerbaijan] should certainly be preceded by a negotiating process on this subject, and since the mutual statements have not yet evolved into a specific negotiating process, as the two countries don't have an extensive record of direct negotiations, Armenia is likely to apply shortly to the mediators [the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs] regarding the start of peace talks," Hunanyan said in an interview with the Armenian state news agency Armenpress.

The matter is currently being worked on, he said.
