Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Interior Ministry quit Instagram

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has shut down its Instagram account, the agency stated on Friday.

"The Russian Prosecutor General's Office account is ceasing to operate on the Instagram platform due to its indulgence of posts inciting violence (killing) of Russian Federation citizens, including the military," the statement.

Later a post on the Instagram of the Russian Interior Ministry said that it too was closing down "due to calls for violence (killing)" of Russian citizens, including the military.

Earlier the Prosecutor General's Office asked the telecoms regulator Roskomnadzor to restrict access to the social-networking website.
