Roskomnadzor demands Meta give prompt response to question on new content moderation rules re Russian servicemen

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Meta should either confirm or deny whether its content moderation policy has changed with regard to Russian citizens, including servicemen, as soon as possible, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) said.

"Roskomnadzor has demanded that the management of Meta Platforms Inc. confirm or deny online reports regarding a change of the content moderation policy in the Facebook and Instagram social networks with regard to Russian citizens, including servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces, as soon as possible," the agency said.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communication Alexander Khinshtein said earlier on Friday that Instagram might be blocked in Russia if the reports are true or if Meta refuses to answer Roskomnadzor's enquiry.
