Over 8,000 refugees from Donbas arrive in Russia's Rostov region in past day - FSB border dept

ROSTOV-ON-DON. March 11 (Interfax) - More than 8,000 residents of the Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk (LPR) People's Republics crossed into Russia over the past day, the press service for the Russian Federal Security Service's (FSB) border department for the Rostov region said.

"More than 8,000 people evacuated from the Donbas republics crossed the border via crossing points in the past 24-hour period," the press service said.

Around 7,000 people were evacuated from the Donbas republics to Russia the day before.

The DPR and LPR authorities have been evacuating women, children and the elderly to Russia since February 18. Refugees first arrive in the Rostov region, from where they are transported to other Russian regions.
