Putin tasks Shoigu with drafting separate report on strengthening of Russian borders in light of NATO's buildup

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has tasked Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with drafting a separate report dealing with measures to reinforce the Russian borders in light of NATO's buildup along Russia's western border.

"And the third question, which deals with the strengthening of the western borders of the Russian Federation in light of the steps being taken there by NATO countries, so to speak, in response to what they are doing - it requires separate consideration. I ask you to prepare a separate report and to present it. Based on the results of its discussion, we will adopt a relevant decision in the near future," Putin said at a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council on Friday.
