Russian Defense Ministry says it permits Ukrainian repair team to proceed to damaged power transmission line near Chernobyl NPP

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has said it has permitted a Ukrainian repair team to proceed to a damaged electrical transmission line near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

"Fully understanding the scale of the humanitarian disaster in the blocked populated localities, we have authorized additional routes proposed by the Ukrainian side. These are the corridors leading from the town of Trostyanets and the village of Krasnopolye of the Sumy region in the direction of Poltava and from the town of Korosten in the Zhytomyr region leading to the area of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant [opened] to secure the travel of the repair team to the power transmission line damaged by nationalists," head of the Russian National Defense Control Center Mikhail Mizintsev said at a press briefing on Thursday.
