Radislava NGO, which helped women who have suffered from violence, liquidated in Belarus

MINSK. March 10 (Interfax) - The Radislava non-governmental organization (NGO), which helps women who have suffered from violence, has been shut down in Belarus, the Belarusian unregistered human rights center Viasna said on Thursday.

"On March 9, the Minsk City Court held a session on the liquidation of the Radislava NGO. It has been reported that the court ruled to liquidate this organization," Viasna said.

The Belarusian Interior Ministry said in September of last year that the organization's leader Olga Gorbunova had been detained.

"This woman from Minsk is suspected in a criminal case opened into organizing and carrying out activities that constitute a grave public order offense or actively participating in these activities," the Interior Ministry said.

In particular, Gorbunova coordinated "women's marches" in the Belarusian capital, it said.

Radislava is a non-profit, non-governmental charitable organization, which was founded in Minsk in 2002 to help women who have suffered from violence.
