U.S. to lose $4 bln from Roscosmos' refusal to supply Russian rocket engines - Rogozin

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - The United States will lose some $4 billion due to Russia's refusal to supply rocket engines for U.S. rockets, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin said.

"We project the total amount of damage from the refusal of rocket engines supply at some $4 billion," Rogozin said at a meeting with deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) faction. A video of the meeting was released by the party's press service.

Rogozin said on March 3 that Roscosmos was suspending the supply of rocket engines to the U.S. The state corporation also said it was stopping technical maintenance for the Russian RD-18- rocket engines already supplied to the U.S.

The U.S. and the European Union declared the imposition of sanctions on the Russian space industry on February 24. In retaliation for the European sanctions, the Roscosmos head said launches of Soyuz rockets from the Kourou Cosmodrome in French Guiana would be discontinued, and that Russian specialists would be recalled from there.
