Lavrov meeting with Venezuelan vice president in Antalya

ANTALYA. March 10 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is meeting with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez on the sidelines of the Antalya forum.

Having entered the negotiation room, the Russian minister greeted Venezuelan journalists in Spanish. Lavrov also pointed out that one of the members of the Venezuelan delegation was wearing a hat.

"Excellent hat," the minister said, smiling.

At the beginning of the meeting, Lavrov said it is an excellent opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and the common understanding of justice and international law.

Rodriguez, for her part, said: "We are very happy to see you. It's an important moment for all mankind. Russia has always played an important role in history."

"I believe that the UN Charter guarantees that every country can play its historical role in international relations," Lavrov said.

Instead of that, "the United States and their allies are trying to play other countries against each other, and it will not be a success," he said.

Rodriguez responded by saying that Venezuela does not recognize the hegemony of other countries and is for equality of sovereignties.
