Russia demands response re U.S. bio lab experiments in Ukraine - Lavrov

ANTALYA. March 10 (Interfax) - The U.S.-supported biological weapons created in Ukraine were ethnic-specific, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We are very alarmed by the information that has become available that the Pentagon has created several dozens of military-biological laboratories on the Ukrainian territory under its program to create such military-biological laboratories worldwide in breach of the existing Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention," he said at a Thursday press conference after talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The Russian side has sent a relevant inquiry "as to how this can be explained," Lavrov said. "We will demand a response," the minister said.

"I have no data that they have already used these weapons, but there is practically no doubt that those were absolutely not peaceful experiments, but experiments aimed at creating biological weapons, ethnic-specific, so to speak," Lavrov said.
