Valio continuing operational activities in Russia, fulfilling all obligations

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - LLC Valio, a subsidiary of Finnish producer of dairy products Valio, is continuing operational activities in Russia.

"In connection with the decision announced by Finnish concern Valio on its intention to leave the Russian market, we are announcing that at present, the operational activities of LLC Valio in Russia are continuing, the company is keeping up production activity and logistical operations, and obligations before clients, partners, and employees are being fulfilled," the Russian company said in a statement.

A comprehensive plan of further action is being worked out, the company said. A key priority is preserving jobs and observing legal requirements, it said.

The Russian subsidiary of the Finnish concern produces cheeses at its own plant in the Moscow region, as well as at local partner facilities. The Valio plant in the Moscow region is designed with a capacity to produce 15,000 tonnes of products a year.

Valio announced earlier that it had decided to leave the Russian market. The company has worked in Russia for more than a hundred years, but under the current circumstances considers it impossible to continue its activities, Valio said.
