Over 220 participants in unsanctioned events in Moscow arrested, over 1,100 fined - court

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - District courts in Moscow have processed over 1,300 administrative motions with regard to participants in unsanctioned demonstrations.

"Since February 24, courts in Moscow have received 4,355 administrative motions, and 1,340 of them have been processed. Administrative arrests were ordered for 228 persons, and 1,114 persons were fined," the Moscow City Court press service told Interfax on Thursday.

Courts sent 143 motions back to the police to rectify deficiencies. The others are being processed, and the majority of offenses are punishable with a fine.

The press service said that "motions were mostly filed in regard to young persons, aged from 16 to 22, and the majority of transgressors do not live in Moscow."
