Ukrainian Emergencies Service: 143 people evacuated from Volnovakha, Staromlynivka over past 24 hours

KYIV. March 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Nearly 4,000 people were evacuated from Volnovakha and nearby villages from March 2 to 9, including 143 people over the past 24 hours alone, the Ukrainian State Service for Emergency Situations said.

"Since March 2, Donbas rescue services have been involved in organizing and carrying out the evacuation of civilians from Volnovakha and nearby villages. As many as 3,972 people have been rescued in this period," the service said on Facebook on Thursday morning.

"On March 9, 143 residents of Volovakha and Staromlynivka were evacuated to the town of Pokrovsk owing to joint efforts by State Service for Emergency Situations workers, volunteers, military service members, the National Police, and the Donetsk regional state administration," it said.

Most of the evacuees travelled to the city of Dnipro by train arranged by the Ukrzaliznytsia national railway company.
