Russia not to take part in Council of Europe activities - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - Russia has no intention to participate in the activities of the Council of Europe, as they are undermined by Western nations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"EU and NATO member states, which are unfriendly towards Russia, are abusing their absolute majority in the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers and are continuing their course towards the destruction of the Council of Europe and the common humanitarian and legal space in Europe," the ministry said.

"The course of events is becoming irreversible, and Russia has no intention to put up with the subversive actions undertaken by the collective West, which push for a rule-based order and replacement of international law trampled upon by the United States and its satellites," the ministry said.

"Russia will take no part in the attempts of NATO and the EU, which obediently follows in its footsteps, to turn the oldest European organization into another venue where mantras of Western supremacy and narcissism are chanted. Let them enjoy each other's company without Russia," it said.
