MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin was briefed on the implementation of his order to completely refrain from using conscripted soldiers in the special operation in Ukraine, and at his instruction, materials have been forwarded to the Main Military Prosecutor's Office demanding a legal assessment and punishment for officials who failed to abide by the president's order, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Prior to the start of the special military operation, at the instruction of President of Russia and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin, all commanders of Russian Armed Forces units were informed of his order to categorically exclude any use of conscripted soldiers for any missions on the territory of Ukraine. President Putin was briefed on the implementation of this order," Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"Due to the presence of a number of conscripted soldiers in Armed Forces units taking part in the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, materials have been sent to the Main Military Prosecutor's Office at the Russian president's instruction to probe, to give a legal assessment and to punish officials responsible for failure to comply with the aforementioned order," he said.
