State Duma to appeal to UN, PACE, OSCE regarding bio labs in Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has proposed that parliament request that these international organizations investigate the operations of biological laboratories in Ukraine.

"Let us give an order to the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee and Defense Committee to draft an appeal to international organizations, the United Nations, the PACE, and the OSCE PA, expressing the need to investigate the activities of biological laboratories in Ukraine. We will consider this issue at a plenary session on March 11," the State Duma press service cited Volodin as saying at a session of the State Duma Council on Wednesday.

International entities must interfere in the situation because "representatives of the Department of State are trying to conceal the facts about bio labs in the Ukrainian territory from the public so that no one knows what they were doing there," Volodin said.

In addition, with Volodin's proposal, State Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya was ordered to work on creating a parliamentary commission to investigate the activities of Ukrainian biological laboratories.

The State Duma Council backed Volodin's proposals, the press service said.
