Resident of Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District fined for discrediting Russian Armed Forces

KHANTY-MANSIISK. March 9 (Interfax) - The Surgut City Court of the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District has fined a local resident 40,000 rubles for fake information on the activities of the Russian Armed Forces, the press service for the Russian Interior Ministry's directorate for the region said.

"While monitoring the Internet, officials from the Russian Interior Ministry's directorate for Surgut found a post on a social network that discredited the operations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine," the report said.

As a result of operational search work, the police identified the suspect, a local resident, born in 1989.

The man was subjected by court to administrative liability under Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses for public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces to protect the interests of the country and its citizens and to maintain international peace and security.
