EU blacklisting 160 people, including Russian Federation Council members, businesspeople, over Ukraine situation - von der Leyen

BRUSSELS. March 9 (Interfax) - The European Union is imposing sanctions against 160 individuals, among them members of the Russian Federation Council, the upper house of Russia's parliament, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday.

"We are further tightening the net of sanctions responding to Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, listing 160 individuals: oligarchs, Russian Federation Council members," von der Leyen said on Twitter.

The sanctions will also target "export of maritime navigation technology to Russia," she said.

Furthermore, the EU will impose restrictive measures on the banking sector of Belarus, she said.
