Govt headquarters taking well-considered measures to keep Russian economy functional - Peskov
MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - Russian government measures aim at maintaining a proper level of functioning of the national economy in the new reality, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"No doubt, there will be emotional gaps in food supply chains for some time, yet the recent measures aim at streamlining, adjusting and maintaining a proper level of functioning of our economy under the new conditions," Peskov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Journalists asked how long it might take the Russian economy to cope with the deficit of raw materials and balance demand and supply under the new trade conditions.
According to Peskov, the government headquarters has been taking systemic, well-considered, serious measures "appropriate to the extraordinary unfriendly circumstances inflicted upon us by unfriendly actions."
Peskov could not answer the question of whether there was a view on when the balance between supply and demand could be achieved.
"I cannot tell you. Of course, there are lots of factors in play. I do not know for sure, you should better ask the government," Peskov said.
