In retaliation to economic war, Russia to do what is best for its interests - Peskov

MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - The United States has declared an economic war on Russia, and Moscow will take retaliatory measures that are best for its interests, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, in commenting on United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland's remarks that the U.S. views President Vladimir Putin's "strategic defeat" as the "end game" in the events in Ukraine.

Asked whether this could be seen as the declaration of economic war on Russia, Peskov replied, "Definitely, the U.S. has declared an economic war on Russia, and it is waging this war. De facto, it's truly so."

Asked whether Russia has chances not to lose in this war, Peskov replied, "We will be doing what is best for our interests."
