Number of trucks entering EU from Belarus down by 35% over past few days - Belarusian border committee

MINSK. March 9 (Interfax) - The number of trucks lined up to enter the European Union from Belarus has decreased by 35% over the past few days, the Belarusian State Border Committee said.

"The number of trucks entering the EU from Belarus has decreased by 35% over the past nonworking days," it said.

Poland and Lithuania have failed to honor agreements on admitting trailer trucks to their territory, it said.

The number of trucks that have entered Lithuania over the past four days amounted to 71% of the checkpoints' traffic capacity. The largest number of trailer trucks crossing into Lithuania has currently gathered at the Privalka-Raigardas crossing point, it said.

The number of vehicles that officers of Polish border crossings have cleared for passage makes up 72% of the maximum capacity. The route via the Berestovitsa-Bobrowniki is currently the most loaded one on the Belarusian-Polish border.

"Over the past nonworking days, trucks have been entering Latvian territory without delays. As of 10:00 a.m., the largest number of vehicles was on the Urbany-Silene crossing point," the Border Committee said.
