Checkpoints of Ukraine's Western neighbors not prepared to receive refugees - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 8 (Interfax) - Checkpoints in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, and Romania were not prepared to receive Ukrainian refugees, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Checkpoints in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, and Romania were virtually ill prepared to receive Ukrainian refugees," Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the Russian National Defense Control Center, said at a briefing on Tuesday.

Car and truck traffic jams have concentrated by border crossing points, he said.

"People are forced to leave their cars and walk on foot carrying their heavy bags. Lines are up to 40 kilometers long, and the crossing time is over two days," Mizintsev said.
