Zelensky, European Council president discuss attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities, issue of Ukraine's membership in EU

KYIV. March 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he has held talks with European Council President Charles Michel.

"Held regular talks with the President of the European Council. Discussed the threat to nuclear facilities, the shelling of civilian and critical infrastructure. We must stop this. I raised the issue of Ukraine's membership in the EU. The people of Ukraine deserve this," Zelensky said on Twitter on Monday.

Earlier on Monday, the Kremlin press service reported on a conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and European President Charles Michel.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the start of a "special military operation" in Ukraine in the morning of February 24. The Western countries retaliated by imposing massive sanctions against Russia.
