Nine people hurt in road accident involving police van with those detained at unauthorized rally in Moscow

MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - A police van carrying people detained for participating in an unauthorized rally in Moscow has been involved in a road accident, and a number of persons have been hurt, the press service for the Moscow department of the Russian Interior Ministry said.

"Today at about 3:10 p.m. local time, at the intersection of Komsomolsky Avenue with Khamovnichesky Val Street, an accident occurred involving a van of the Moscow department of the Russian Interior Ministry, which was moving with special light and sound alarms switched on. At the time of the road accident, there were 29 people inside the bus, including five police officers and individuals detained for participation in an unauthorized event," the department said.

"According to preliminary data, nine people, namely, three police officers and six individuals, involved in the traffic accident suffered minor bruises," the police said.

All of those hurt have been examined by medical workers.

The emergency services are currently working at the scene.
