Conor McGregor offers to buy Chelsea for 1.5 bln pounds

MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - Conor McGregor, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight and lightweight double-champion, has offered 1.5 billion pounds for Chelsea Football Club.

"I hereby put forward my offer of £1.5bn," McGregor said on Twitter.

Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, said on March 2 that he would sell the club. On February 26, Abramovich had delegated management of the club to the Chelsea Foundation's trustees.

Abramovich, who bought Chelsea in 2003, has invested millions of U.S. dollars in the club since then. During the time of Abramovich's ownership, Chelsea has won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three Football League Cups, two Full Members' Cups, two UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Europa League titles, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
