Russian Defense Ministry universities in Siberia and Volga region to receive tanks
YEKATRINBURG. March 5 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry's universities in the Central Military District will receive more than 50 pieces of hardware, including tanks, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles equipped with the Berezhok module, before the end of 2022, the military district's press service said on Saturday.
"For the purpose of training future commanders of tank, motorized rifle, reconnaissance and vehicle units, more than 40 Kamaz trucks, Tigr-M Spn armored vehicles, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles with enhanced properties and equipped with the Berezhok combat module will be delivered to the Russian Defense Ministry's universities located in the Novosibirsk and Omsk regions and the republic of Tatarstan before the end of 2022," the press service said.
The branch of the military logistics academy in Omsk and the Kazan Higher Tank Command School will receive five upgraded T-90M tanks and one T-90M Vladimir tank, it said.
"In addition, the Kazan Higher Tank Command School and the Novosibirsk Command School each will receive four T-72B3Ms with enhanced properties," the press service said.
The Central Military District is stationed in three Russian federal districts and 29 constituent territories. It also comprises a number of sites outside Russia, such as the 201st military base in Tajikistan, the combined military base in Kyrgyzstan, and units stationed in Kazakhstan. The district is headquartered in Yekaterinburg.
