Belarusian rights activists say over 900 people detained for participating in protests

MINSK. March 5 (Interfax) - Belarusian human rights activists are aware of 908 people detained for participation in anti-war actions and rallies against the referendum on the constitution that was held in Belarus on February 27.

"At least 908 people all over the country have been detained," the human rights organization Viasna not officially registered in Belarus said.

Over the next three days, 628 administrative cases were opened, 589 people were arrested, and 20 have been fined 45,280 Belarusian rubles in aggregate, it said.

The official exchange rate as of March 5 is 3.0995 Belarusian rubles/$1.
