Senators honor memory of troops killed in Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Federation Council before the Friday session honored the memory of the troops who were killed in the special operation in Ukraine.

"They are fighting for the Motherland, for the security of our country, its citizens, for peace in Donbas, for Ukraine, which will again become a country with which we have friendship and cooperation after it is liberated from the anti-national Kyiv regime, the neo-Nazis," Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said on Friday.

"The Russian army is generally manifesting the highest professionalism, bravery, heroism while fighting to achieve these goals, and we are by right proud of our Armed Forces," she said.

"We will not forget the soldiers, Russian officers who fell in the fighting. We fully support the measures adopted by the Russian president to support their families and children. They fell for the right cause. The memory of them will forever stay in our hearts. I am asking you to honor the memory of our fallen heroes, who died while fulfilling their military duty during the special military operation in Ukraine," Matviyenko said.
