Patriarch Kirill approves text of special prayer for peace

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has approved the text of a prayer for the soonest possible restoration of peace, which will be read after the liturgy at all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The text of the prayer has been sent to the heads of all dioceses, the Russian Orthodox Church said on its website on Thursday.

On February 24, the first day of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, Patriarch Kirill called on all followers of the Russian church to "fervently and ardently pray" for peace. The text of this prayer was approved by the patriarch and was published on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church on Thursday.

The prayer, which is written in Church Slavonic, mentions the peoples who came out of one baptismal font and calls for the spirit of brotherly love and peace to be instilled in their hearts. The prayer also contains an appeal to crush the plots of foreign forces who want to fight and take aim at Holy Rus.
